About Me
I am an Advanced Tatty Bumpkin Teacher. I trained in Oxford in November 2006 and completed my advanced teacher training in February 2008 in London. I have full professional indemnity insurance as well as CRB checking.
I have two young children of my own, and have found teaching Tatty Bumpkin a fantastic way to combine “work” (not sure if you can really call having fun with a group of children work!) with motherhood. I currently teach at pre-schools and nurseries
(e.g. Little Star Nursery, Farrington Gurney
and Next Steps Childcare Centre, Shepton Mallet)
as well as parent & child classes each week.
Having graduated from Oxford and spent 7 years as an officer in the Royal Navy I went on to teach martial arts to children and adults and also adult fitness classes, and have practised yoga for over 10 years. Yoga has helped me personally to find greater calm and freedom from stress in my life.
I am passionate about Tatty Bumpkin classes because I feel that they sow the seeds of vitally important life skills; these tools will help children cope with the stresses of modern life:
- the ability to relax
- to breathe and energise the body
- to release tension and stress from the body by stretching
I love working with children and mums and creating a space for all to relax, have a laugh and let go of the day to day world. It is the most creative, rewarding and ideal job I could possibly imagine. Children have such a powerful creative energy that I never quite know what is going to happen next!
